Gloria Mendoza Soliz, age 86, of Temple passed from this life during the mid-morning hours of Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022 at a local care facility. She was born in Buckholts on the 21 day of April 1935 to parents Encarnacion “Chon” and Theresa (Granado) Mendoza.
Gloria grew up in Buckholts and attended schools there. As a young lady she met and married the love of her life, Apolinar “Paul” Soliz in 1956. The two were married for over 57 years until Paul’s passing in 2013. Gloria worked in the administrative offices for Scott & White Hospital for 40 years until her retirement. Gloria loved her family; she enjoyed cooking and taking care of them. Her home was always open to those in need whether they were family or not. She was a member of El Buen Pastor UMC in Moody for many years. The love she had for God and her family will be her lasting legacy for many generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul, parents “Chon” and Theresa, and one son Abraham as well as seven of her siblings.
Gloria leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Noah Soliz of Temple, son Roger Aldridge of Belton, sister Doris Lange of Holland and brother Willie Mendoza of Little River – Academy. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren with two on the way.
Funeral service will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 12 o’clock p.m. with the burial to follow at Temple Garden of Memories cemetery. The family will be accepting visitors two hours prior to the service.
