Mrs. Gladys Marie Williams-Hawkins (“Gammie”) was born December 6, 1948, to Reverend Morecy and Mattie (Pye) Williams. She graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1967. She furthered her education at Temple Junior College and earned her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts General Studies in 1969. She united with Greater Zion Temple Church of God in Christ serving as State Hospitality President (Local, District, State and National), Sewing Circle, Sunday School Teacher, raised money for the church, worked with the Scholastic Motivation Students, and received her Missionary license on July 19, 2007. She worked as a Secretary for The Temple Police Department; was the first black Bookkeeper at Temple National Bank; and retired as a Social Security Administrator from the Social Security Administration in Temple, Texas, after thirty years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Morecy and Mattie Williams and two brothers, Julius Drisdale and George Marshall.
Survivors are her daughters, Kimberly Williams and Khaayla Hawkins both of Temple, and Kassandra Hawkins of Fort Worth; sister, Beverly Jackson of Temple; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of many relatives, church members, and friends.
