Henry was born April 3, 1933, in Rankin County, Mississippi to Dorothy Amelia Lemon and
Reverend Cleveland Leroy Paige. Henry was the oldest of three children. His sister, Mary Lee
Paige-Campbell, preceded him in death in 2013; leaving Willie Leroy Paige who Henry fondly
referred to as “My Baby Brother”.
As a son of a Methodist minister, he lived all over Mississippi. While attending E. T. Hawkins
High School in Forest, Mississippi Henry was drafted into the United States Army. He
completed high school while in the Army. While serving in the military, he was stationed all
over the world including places like Korea and Germany. He served in several roles including
materials officer, marriage counselor and military police. After retiring from the Army, with 21
years of service, he attended Temple College, where he earned a degree in counseling. He often
spoke of counseling young people with his wisdom and life experience.
On March 4, 1970, Henry married the love of his life, Doris Lee Anderson in Travis, TX. We
fondly remembered him calling her “Baby Doll.” They were married for 33 years before her
passing on December 20, 2003. No children were born of this union. However, he became the
father to her children. Stanley Franklin and Joyce Anderson-Davis; and Comet Russell, Jr. and
Terry Russell who preceded him in death. He loved and cared for them as his own.
As a faithful member of his local church Henry was a consistent tither and prayer and respected
Elder in the District and entire TXSW COGIC Jurisdiction. Henry also served on the Trustee
Board and consistently attended Sunday school, Bible Band and Pastoral teachings until his
health and eyesight deteriorated.
He leaves to mourn his death and celebrate his life: his brother, Willie L. Paige (Queene) of
Jackson, MS; Stanley Franklin and Joyce Adams-Davis; his goddaughter, Cynthia Taylor-Tryon
(Ike) and Jasmine Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, three generations of grandchildren,
his church family and friends.
