Obituary

Carrie Bonner Burleson was born in Baileyville, Texas, to Leon C. and Elnora Whitfield Bonner on November 14, 1923. She attended Dunbar High School and was a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over 80 years, and served as an Usher, the Culinary Ministry, the Mary Circle, and the Women’s Ministry. She married Ralph C. Burleson on October 25, 1940, and was a housewife. Carrie hobbies included fishing, sewing and carpentry.

Carrie Bonner Burleson departed this life on Friday, February 4, 2022, in Temple, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Pastor Charles Edward Burleson, Ralph Lynn Burleson, and Howard Leon Burleson; three sisters, Jimmie Ruth, Bennett, and Wilma Lee; and five brothers, Durward, Woodie, Judge Leon, Edward and Henry.

Left to cherish her memories are one son, Pastor Paul Burleson (Dallas L. Burleson) of Denver, Colorado; five daughters, Minister Maurine Burleson Chaney (Pastor Anthony Cheney), and Lovie O. Williams, and Gerda (Linda) Burleson all of Temple, Texas, Dallas L. Burleson and Hazel Burleson both of Denver, Colorado; one brother, Eugene Bonner of Los Angeles, California; 21 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 31 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
